GM fucked up, that's true. At least in the comparison to Takata they took the initiative to fix it, unlike Takata that's basically ignored the problem.

But then they lied. They said they fixed the problems. They said they were transparent. That was at about 15 million recalls. They said their products were all fixed, they were better than ever. Then the Colorado/Canyon was recalled less than a month into sales. There is a point when people need to start look at things and say, "Hmm, maybe this is a bit to much?". Once your quality is a direct result of someone being found guilty of negligent homicide, I think that is the point of no return. Or than a majority of their cars built from 1999-until now have been recalled. Even my Mom's Vibe has been recalled. It's like 99.9% Toyota, but it was built in a GM factory. One of the few GM parts in it, has been recalled.

At least they're fixing it.

The Ford Pinto had 27 deaths attributed to it, and initially didn't even bother to recall.

To be fair to GM, most of the recalls this year weren't fatal, it was only the ignition switch. That sparked them to fix all their other issues at once. Who knows what we don't know about with other makers? At least GM is issuing recalls, look at the Takata deal: they haven't actually recalled anything themselves
